Prior to launching the peloton toward the Pyrenean peaks, Pau is serving up a stage with a largely flat route that will suit the sprinters. Breakaway specialists might draw inspiration from the flamboyance of rugby superstar and local legend Antoine Dupont at the intermediate sprint in Castelnau-Magnoac, or even at the Côte de Baleix as the finish approaches. However, the most likely outcome is that another sprinter will succeed Olav Kooij, who prevailed at this same finish last summer.
