New main partner: Sanofi puts on the white jersey

  • Sanofi and the Tour de France announced today that they have agreed a new partnership.
  • Starting in 2027, Sanofi will become the partner of the white jersey, which is awarded to the best young rider, in both the Tour de France and the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift.
  • Committed to health and scientific literacy, Sanofi will leverage the special bond between the Tour and its fans lining the roadsides to carry out awareness-raising initiatives.
Laurent Fignon and Greg LeMond, long before Alberto Contador, Andy Schleck, or Tadej Pogacar, share the distinction of having worn the white jersey on the roads of the Tour before climbing to the top of the general classification. The current king of world cycling even cemented his dominance in the youth category by winning eight of his 26 Tour stages while wearing white. This is a striking illustration of the many records for precocious achievement broken by the Slovenian phenomenon during his first four appearances in the Tour de France.
In the women’s race, the future is also taking shape in the present in the battle for the white jersey, as seen, for example, last summer in the contest between two of the most promising riders of the moment. Antonia Niedermaier and Paula Blasi, both 23, finished 4th and 5th, respectively, in the final general classification at the finish in Nice of the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift. The top spots await them in the coming years.
Awarded to the best young rider in the general classification, the white jersey serves as a springboard to success for the top talents of cycling’s next generation. This commitment to excellence echoes Sanofi’s dedication to scientific advances that meet patients’ needs. Both cycling and scientific innovation rely on teamwork and the ambition to constantly push the boundaries.
Sanofi will leverage the Tour’s reach to raise public awareness of health issues and scientific advances through initiatives developed in collaboration with healthcare professionals and patient organizations. These programs will be rolled out in stage towns, fan zones, along the route, and online, focusing on prevention and patient support.
Belén Garijo, CEO of Sanofi
"The Tour de France has a unique ability to reach millions of people across France and around the world. We are harnessing this extraordinary reach in service of health. Just like a cycling team in the peloton, where riders succeed by working together, we believe scientific progress is also a collective effort. Through the power of sport, we can connect with people, raise awareness of diseases and prevention, and make health information more accessible.”
Yann Le Moenner, CEO of A.S.O.
“The white jersey embodies the new generation of cycling at the highest level and recognizes young riders who are already establishing themselves among the best. We are proud and delighted to welcome Sanofi as an official partner starting in 2027, both at the Tour de France and the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift. Together, we share a commitment to celebrating talent, progress, and the next generation.”
