The sprinters and their teams won’t want to miss this dream opportunity to seize the Yellow Jersey. After leaving Edinburgh, the passage through the Scottish Borders will feature the Tour’s first, albeit modest, climbs. The polka-dot jersey will be contested on the slopes of the Côte de Melrose climb during the first half of the stage. The peloton and sprinters’ trains are then likely to take control on the unchallenging terrain leading into Carlisle after crossing the border from Scotland into England.
