The riders will get straight to the heart of the matter when they leave Mulhouse and climb the Grand Ballon, soon after which they’ll pass through the finish line for the first time. This, though, is only the beginning of the festival of climbing that lies ahead. Hidden on the long loop that follows is one of the explosive points of the 2026 route: the ascent of the Haag, a forest trail that’s been converted into a bike path. It winds upwards for 11.2 kilometres at an average of 7.3%, with some steep pitches thrown in. From the summit, just six kilometres remain to Le Markstein.
