"Even though I didn’t win the stage, getting on the Tour podium is a dream come true for me. We gave it our all today. It was a top-class breakaway, and it was up to me to try and break away from early on if I wanted to challenge for the stage win. I’m feeling really good. In the breakaway, my legs felt really strong and I thought I had a chance of going solo… but with the Lidl-Trek riders, it was very difficult. There’s still a long way to go in the Tour and plenty of stages that favour breakaways; and I’m in good shape, which is the most important thing."
