One of Combloux’s most prestigious visitors, Victor Hugo, referred to it as “the pearl of the Alps” long before the development of winter sports. Since then, the town has captured the hearts of hordes of skiers who have been drawn to the Portes du Mont-Blanc ski area. Now set to join the club of Tour de France stage towns, it has already seen the peloton pass by on stages that have finished in Megève, including last summer when there were still some serious contenders for success in the breakaway group as it passed through Combloux. A few kilometres later, Magnus Cort Nielsen added a stage victory to his epic ride in the polka dot jersey that had concluded two days earlier.

  • Stage town for the 1st time
