Located very close to Mont-Saint-Michel, Pontorson has previously witnessed the Tour peloton racing towards the famous rocky islet and was involved in the organisation of the French National Cycling Championships held in the department of La Manche in 2024. The town hosted the start of the elite time trials, won by Bruno Armirail and Audrey Cordon-Ragot. The town has also hosted stages of the Tour de Normandie and the Tour de la Manche.
