It's all about the stage win on the Champs-Elysées. This grandiose finale held since 1975 has a special taste this time around because next year it will be a closing individual time trial from Monaco to Nice instead, Paris being busy with the Olympic games. For this special occasion, the tradition of a bunch sprint finish should be respected and the logical favourite is the green jersey holder himself. Philipsen is the defending champion of this particular stage. Others who have won it before have quit the Tour: Wout van Aert, Caleb Ewan, Mark Cavendish. Former winners Dylan Groenewegen and Alexander Kristoff have made it to Paris to try and get this feeling again. After the end will come the happy end of the closing ceremony.
