“For sure the yellow jersey is nicer than the green one but I’ve enjoyed the yellow and I’ll enjoy the green as well. This morning, we’ve thought that on this very long stage we wouldn’t get much help to control the race, so the idea was to make the breakaway and it has been very difficult. At the end of the day, we were only three at the front, so I was well aware that it would be a mission to stay up there till the end. But I’ve wanted to honour the Maillot Jaune and share the moment with the crowd. I knew that those efforts would prevent me from fighting for the stage win. Now I will have another role. I’ll keep fighting for points for the green jersey and I’ll help my team-mates as much as I can. Tomorrow, I’ll work in the first part of the stage and I’ll take it easy in the hill to recover a bit.”
