Defending champion Egan Bernal who was 16th overall with a deficit of more than 19 minutes from race leader Primoz Roglic has announced this morning at 8am that he will not take the start of stage 17. “This is obviously not how I wanted my Tour de France to end, but I agree that it is the right decision for me in the circumstances", the Colombian stated. "I have the greatest respect for this race and I am already looking forward to coming back in the years ahead.”
