“I wanted to have a big chance for the stage victory. To break away is my only way to win. I also knew the teams of Matthews and Van Avermaet were going to control the race. Being only five guys at the front with only two minutes advantage, we were aware that it would be difficult. I'll attack again because there's still one week of racing. The Tour de France is my main goal of the year.”
