BMC Racing Team is registered in the USA and backed by Swiss benefactor Andy Rihs. Their headquarters are in Belgium and they have developed a special relationship with Australian cycling. Cadel Evans was the world champion when he joined in 2010. He became the first Tour de France winner from the Southern Hemisphere racing under the red and black colors in 2011. Richie Porte is now following his path, also in search of the yellow jersey. Yesterday, at a press conference, Chris Froome declared he’ll be the man to beat this time around. Also from Australia but not present at the Tour de France this year, Rohan Dennis made a big coup as he won the inaugural time trial in Utrecht, The Netherlands, in 2015. While favourites Tony Martin and Fabian Cancellara were afraid of up and coming rouleur Tom Dumoulin, the young man from Adelaide established a new record of speed in a Tour de France individual stage at 55.446km/h!
BMC riders to watch out for on Le Tour 2017: Richie Porte (Aus), Greg Van Avermaet (Bel).
