In a press conference yesterday, FDJ iconic team manager Marc Madiot reminded the audience that his team has had ups and downs in twenty participations to the Tour de France. They actually won ten stages, from Christophe Mengin winning in Fribourg, Switzerland, on their debut in 1997, to Thibaut Pinot imposing himself at L'Alpe d'Huez two years ago. The young Frenchman also claimed the first podium finish of the four-leafed clover squad as he came third overall and best young rider in 2014. July 8, 2003, remains a special day in the history of the French team. From Charleville-Mézières to Saint-Dizier, they had three distinctive jerseys: yellow worn by Bradley McGee after the prologue in Paris, white held by Baden Cooke after he won the previous stage in Sedan and polka dot by Mengin who broke away in stage 1.
FDJ riders to watch out for on Le Tour 2017: Arnaud Démare, Thibaut Pinot (Fra).
