500: BELGIUM REACHES A HISTORIC MILESTONE
A symbolic landmark! Thanks to Remco Evenepoel's victory at Plateau de Solaison this Sunday, combined with Tim Merlier's hat-trick since the start of this edition, Belgium claimed its 500th stage victory in Tour de France history. The second most successful nation behind France, the "Flat Country" opened its account back in 1909 when Cyrille Van Hauwaert triumphed in Roubaix. Among the 166 Belgian stage winners in the Grande Boucle, Eddy Merckx remains the most prolific with 34 victories, ahead of Freddy Maertens (15) and Philippe Thys (13).
3: MORE THAN A TIME TRIAL SPECIALIST
By edging out Tadej Pogacar after a thrilling finale raced at more than 40 km/h, Remco Evenepoel claimed the third Tour de France stage victory of his career. More importantly, it was his first road stage win in the Grande Boucle. Until now, the Red Bull–Bora–Hansgrohe rider had only tasted success in his specialty, the individual time trial, winning in Gevrey-Chambertin in 2024 and Caen in 2025.
75: A GROWING COLLECTION OF VICTORIES
At just 26 years of age, Remco Evenepoel celebrated the 75th professional victory of his career. The 2022 world champion now draws level with compatriot Tim Merlier, who also reached the 75-win mark thanks to his three sprint victories in this year's Tour.
2021: BELGIUM BACK ON TOP OF THE MOUNTAINS
By raising his arms atop Plateau de Solaison, Remco Evenepoel gave Belgium its first mountain stage victory since 2021. That year, Wout van Aert won solo in Malaucène after conquering Mont Ventoux twice, while Dylan Teuns had claimed victory a few days earlier in Le Grand-Bornand. Teuns was also the last Belgian to win on a summit finish, prevailing on the steep slopes of La Super Planche des Belles Filles in 2019.
46: POGACAR JOINS HINAULT
Runner-up at Plateau de Solaison, climbed at an average speed of 21.2 km/h, Tadej Pogacar recorded the 46th Tour de France stage podium of his career. The Slovenian now equals five-time Tour winner Bernard Hinault in sixth place on the all-time list. Both riders remain well behind record-holder Eddy Merckx (63 podiums), but are now just one podium shy of Peter Sagan (47).
180: A WARDROBE TO ENVY
By retaining both the Yellow Jersey and the polka-dot jersey on Sunday evening, Tadej Pogacar collected the 179th and 180th distinctive jerseys of his Tour de France career, in just 141 stages. Since earning his first White Jersey at the end of stage 4 in the 2020 edition, the Slovenian has worn the White Jersey 75 times (including four final victories), the Yellow Jersey 65 times (including four overall wins), the polka-dot jersey 37 times (including three final victories), and the green jersey on three occasions.
1: A FIRST FOR VINGEGAARD
Second overall at the start in Champagnole, Jonas Vingegaard was forced to abandon the race 24 kilometres from the finish after crashing on a roundabout. The two-time Tour de France winner (2022 and 2023) leaves the Grande Boucle for the first time in six appearances. It is also the first Grand Tour abandonment of his career, having previously completed six Tours, three Vueltas and one Giro. Over the past twelve editions, only five other riders have abandoned the Tour while sitting in the overall top three: Tom Dumoulin, Tony Martin and Tejay Van Garderen in 2015, Geraint Thomas in 2017 and, ironically, Remco Evenepoel in 2025. Since 2021, Vingegaard and Pogacar had always occupied the top two places in the final general classification. That streak will come to an end this year.
2023: SIMMONS REWARDED FOR HIS EFFORTS
After spending 92 kilometres at the front of the race and surviving the longest from the day's breakaway on the slopes of Plateau de Solaison, Quinn Simmons was named the most combative rider of the day. The Lidl-Trek rider becomes the first American to receive the award since Neilson Powless (stage 2) and Matteo Jorgenson (stage 9) in the 2023 edition. To date, no American rider has ever been crowned the Tour de France's Super Combativity Award winner.
