Another opportunity for the sprinters

Following a crash-marred stage 3, the last of the four stages in Brittany is a second opportunity for the sprinters to have their say. It’s a shorter stage (152km) set to give some respite to the GC riders ahead of a decisive time trial. It’s a flatter stage as well. Ide Schelling doesn’t risk to lose his polka dot jersey since there’s no categorized climb on the route. It’s the same finish in Fougères as in 2015 when Mark Cavendish last imposed himself at the Tour de France for Deceuninck-Quick Step. Alpecin-Fenix would like to make it three in a row, possibly swapping Tim Merlier for Jasper Philipsen as the last man after the train directed by yellow jersey holder Mathieu van der Poel. Caleb Ewan is no longer in the race after he broke his collarbone yesterday, so Arnaud Démare can be considered the hot favourite.
