Alexander Kristoff made clear after his sprint victory on day 1 in Nice, he’ll enjoy wearing the yellow jersey for the first time in his career at the age of 33, “even though it’s only for one day”, he admitted. Stage 2 isn’t a sprinters’ day even if the classification will be made at the same place on the Promenade des Anglais. The riders will arrive from the opposite direction after enduring the col de la Colmiane, the col de Turini, the col d’Eze and the non-categorized col des Quatre Chemins, all part of the course of Paris-Nice in recent years. GC contenders have no choice but riding at the front. A reduced sprint of good climbers and a change of yellow jersey are expected with possibly the first Colombian stage victory in the hand of national champion Sergio “Monster” Higuita.
