Questioned by FranceTelevisions, Bahrain-Merida's sport director Philippe Mauduit explained that Ondrej Cink was forced to pull out because of a knee injury. "The pain was so big that he couldn't push even on the flat", the Frenchman said. He also underlined that it's not the Tour de France but the Tour of suffering for Bahrain-Merida since day 1 when they lost their leader Ion Izagirre in a crash in the inaugural time trial in Düsseldorf.
