The James Bond piste
Twenty years ago, Peryagudes was chosen by the producers of James Bond for the opening scene of the 18th film in the series, Tomorrow never dies, with Pierce Brosnan as agent 007. The Pyrenees resort was then turned into an Afghan camp. To celebrate the anniversary, Peyragudes decided to create a new panoramic slope of 2,670 metres and to name it 007.
Saoussas mill in Loudenvielle
Shortly after the French Revolution, to cater for the needs of the population of the valley of Louron, a mill was built close to the village of Loudenvielle. It worked until 1937, when its wheel was destroyed by a flood of the river Neste du Louron. To revive the activity, it was rebuilt on the original site. The mill is operational again, a magnificent building of wood and stone from the region.
Arixo in Loudenvielle
In Loudenvielle is set the Arixo museum, dedicated to the history of the region told with the latest technologies. The old farm made of stone, wood and slate, was fully renovated to host the equipment used for the visitors to discover the specificities of the valley.
Churches of the Louron valley
The Louron valley is home to several picturesque Romanesque churches whose monumental paintings from the 16th century were miraculously preserved. The valley was so isolated that the churches did not suffer from the destructions of the wars of religion or the French Revolution.
