A new location on the Tour de France map, Eymet has never before held an international cycling race of that level. The small commune of Dordogne is however close to Marmande, which the peloton will ride through during the stage and which is the birthplace of a leading Tour protagonist of the pas decade, Pierrick Fedrigo. Recently retired, the four times stage winner on the Tour will this time follow a stage as spectator. Eymet had a first taste of the Tour when the race crossed town in 2014 during the stage between Maubourguet and Bergerac, won by Ramunas Navardauskas, who managed to hold the peloton at bay on the finish line. Chris Froome and the other Britons in the peloton will not feel too homesick in Eymet since 20 pc of the local population are British citizens and a fish and ship shop can be found in town as well as a cricket ground!
