2016: McLay plays with the big boys

The history of the Fortuneo-Vital Concept team is in its infancy compared to the leading teams that occupy the event's roll of honour. However, it is a spectacular accomplishment for its pioneers, who worked for a long time at establishing a team with a strong Brittany identity, which eventually made it to the 2014 Tour de France bearing the name Bretagne-Séché Environnement. Its riders have mainly won recognition through their involvement in breakaways, but last year also started to get a glimpse of the success that would see them step up a rung on the ladder in the Tour de France hierarchy. However, it was not a rider from Brittany but from Britain who aimed for the top, as Dan McLay managed to grab 3rd place on the stage finishing in Montauban. The team sprinter showed that he was capable of rivalling the world's best, finishing just behind Cavendish and Kittel, which was already a major thrill…
