Dan McLay: "It's huge!"

Armindo Fonseca's team-mate Daniel McLay (Fortuneo-Vital Concept) told letour.com prior to the start: "I've only done one sprint in the Tour de France [9th on stage 1] so I can't tell. You can only tell it's huge and everybody is really nervous. The first day didn't go too badly I'm going to try again and give it a shot. Maybe little by little the stages won't be that fast and I have a better chance.”

At the difference of McLay, Fonseca isn't new to the Tour de France. He's been away on several occasions those past two years, notably during stage 2 in Zealand last year.
