Thousands of years and erosion by river Ardeche were necessary for water to dig the rock an create this monumental natural arch of 60 metres high with an opening of nearly 30 metres. The natural gateway into the Gorges of Ardeche it was listed as a Grand Site de France in1982. While natural arches are not rare in France and in the world, Pont d'Arc is the largest and one of the very few to actually remain over an active river. It is located about 5 km from the village of Vallon-Pont d'Arc.
Massif of Dent de Rez: it is a remarkable site in the south of Ardeche listed among the natural riches of the department because of its geological structure and its wildlife, especially birds. It is possible to walk to the top of this modestly elevated summit, visible from afar thanks to its characteristic figure.
Nature Reserve of Gorges de l'Ardeche: remarkable by the quality of their landscapes, the variety of their natural, historical and prehistoric heritage, the gorges of Ardeche and their plateaux attract numerous tourists looking for discovery, escapism and natural activities. The site, with Pont d'Arc and the massif of Dent de Rez, has been listed as a Nature Reserve since 1980.
