Peter Sagan: I abandoned the idea to chase points

"It was a hard stage for all riders. For many of us, it was essential to avoid finishing outside the time limit. Earlier in the day, I was ready to go on a breakaway – before the first climb – to reach the intermediate sprint ahead, but as soon as the road began to rise, I was already well behind and I abandoned the idea to chase points today. I sat in the second group; and it was then that I was able to find good feelings by the third climb. It was really a hard day of riding, but I think it was the same for everyone. And everyone was able to save their skin.”
