Libourne’s Tour history began in 1957 with a time trial that was won by Jacques Anquetil, who finished well ahead of the competition just two days before his first overall victory in the event was confirmed. In 1992, the town hosted another time trial, on that occasion of the team variety, which ended with victory for the Panasonic squad, while Pascal Lino retained the Yellow Jersey he’d taken three days previously. Almost 30 years passed before the Tour returned to Libourne, Matej Mohoric taking his second solo win there in the 2021 edition.
