The Tour’s last starts from the Olympic city will bring back good memories for Pierre Rolland, who won in La Toussuire Les Sybelles in 2012, and Romain Bardet, who, in 2016, triumphed in Saint-Gervais-Mont-Blanc.
In 2018, Geraint Thomas took the yellow jersey on the stage from Albertville to La Rosière Espace San Bernardo and kept it until Paris. On a different note, last July’s run from Albertville to Valence smiled on Mark Cavendish, who claimed his 33rd stage victory. To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Olympic Winter Games, the riders will face a very different kind of test.
