- The Tour de France and Kahoot! have joined forces to create an unprecedented event: the Kahoot! Tour de France Cup, an international educational gathering covering themes such as culture, sport, and cycling safety, explored through the lens of the Grande Boucle.
- Held on June 5, 2026, the Kahoot! Tour de France Cup quiz brought together 350 classes from over 80 countries across every continent — including more than 1,000 students connected at the same time on the day —, celebrating the universal appeal of sport.
- The first Kahoot! Tour de France Cup left participating classes "thrilled," as explained by South African teacher Steve Sherman, who described it as "a wonderful learning opportunity" made possible through the tools provided by Kahoot!.
An educational adventure born from a common vision Organized for the first time on Friday, June 5, 2026, the Kahoot! Tour de France Cup is rooted in the educational vision jointly shared by the Tour de France, the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift, and Riding into the Future: making cycling a tool for learning, discovery, and broadening horizons for younger generations. In this sense, the event marked a new milestone in this international, global educational engagement initiative.
The Kahoot! Tour de France Cup gave students around the world the opportunity to explore themes (available here) ranging from European geography to cycling safety, as well as the iconic jerseys of the Tour de France, all while testing their knowledge in an inclusive setting. Each topic served as an accessible gateway to acquiring knowledge on a wide variety of subjects.
The event built on the digital educational ecosystem developed around the Grande Boucle: in the lead-up, a Kahoot! preparation kit had been created around the official Dictée du Tour de France 2026. Distributed to municipalities and schools concerned, the seven quizzes recorded over 8,500 games played — enthusiasm that foreshadowed the success of the Kahoot! Tour de France Cup.
A quiz designed for everyone
To ensure every student could participate fully, regardless of their native language, the questions for the Kahoot! Tour de France Cup were designed entirely using visuals, symbols, and emojis, removing all language barriers.
This deliberate pedagogical choice allowed every participant to compete on an equal footing, as explained by South African teacher Steve Sherman: "The kindergarten kids were very excited to take part in the event. They were able to follow the symbols and questions with a little help from me. They did some research on the Tour de France and knew stuff that I did not know. The children loved competing with the global audience and there was quite a lot of shouting and excitement in the classroom. It is a great idea to collaborate with the Tour de France as it provides a great learning opportunity to an audience that would not ordinarily follow the event. Now the kids are impressing their parents with their knowledge."
Connected from everywhere in the world
For the first time, a completely new international peloton of students aged 6 to 12 gathered on June 5, connecting from around the globe to take part in the Kahoot! Tour de France Cup. In some parts of the world, the event also reconnected with other Tour de France-related initiatives. "Our school is in Marmaris, one of the cities that hosted L'Étape du Tour de France, and we were very excited to be part of this quiz!" shared Gülşah Ünal, a teacher from that Turkish Riviera town.
In total, 350 classes from over 80 countries registered and were able to explore the wide range of free educational content made available for the occasion. There was a truly global mobilization, with classes from countries as diverse as South Africa, Vietnam, the United States, Brazil, Turkey, Ukraine, Scotland, Romania, Hungary, North Macedonia, Ireland, Belgium, Spain, Germany, France… and even Norfolk Island, a territory in the South Pacific.
But beyond the numbers, the success of the Kahoot! Tour de France Cup is best reflected in the enthusiastic response from the classes who lived the experience. "It was a fantastic event, we had a great time taking part in the quiz and my students loved it!", summed up Nora Latroch, a teacher from the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region
The Kahoot! Tour de France Cup doesn’t stop here!
Two classes from Romania and one from Belgium claimed the top spots on the podium of this inaugural edition, each receiving a Kahoot! prize pack. Every participating class was provided with a printable Tour de France kit — posters, stamps, and other materials — to extend the experience in the classroom beyond the quiz itself. But with the Kahoot! Tour de France Cup, there were only winners.
By simultaneously reaching over 80 countries and thousands of people, the friendly competition promoted by Kahoot! and the Tour de France once again proved that cycling can transcend cultural and linguistic boundaries, becoming a universal language of learning. And the Grande Boucle has shown itself to be a game-based learning tool capable of engaging a whole new generation of fans through modern digital platforms.
A wealth of educational content about the Tour de France remains freely available to schoolchildren and classes worldwide on the Kahoot! platform, in the dedicated Tour de France section here.
Christian Prudhomme, director of Tour de France : “For the first time, a peloton of a new kind set off on June 5th: 350 classes, 80 countries, all 5 continents! Children aged 6 to 12 in South Africa, Turkey, Vietnam, and as far away as Norfolk Island in the Pacific — all united around the Tour de France. That is the strength of the Grande Boucle: it knows no borders; it is a common language.”
