Rehabilitation of the town centre
An important and ambitious programme was launched in 2015 to revitalise the town centre. It started with the rehabilitation of Place de la Republique to make it the central point of the renovation of the pedestrian streets and the historical heart of Limoges, symbolised by the 1887 Market Hall.

Limoges, a sporting city
The capital of porcelain is also a very sport-friendly city. Its basketball club, CSP Limoges, is the most successful French club in any team sport and the town often hosts major sports events like Davis Cup and Fed Cup matches while holding France's third major women's tennis tournament, the ENGIE Limoges Open.

Sport in Limoges also found its place at university with a centre for law and economy in sport (CDES), which became the leading training structure in France for sports managers and leaders. It also played a major role in the reconversion of sportsmen after their career and had among its students such famous names as Laurent Blanc, Marc Lievremont, Stephane Ostrowski, Emmanuel Petit, Christophe Dominici, Fabien Pelous, Olivier Dacourt, Eric Carriere or Zinedine Zidane
