Start 10h05 (Local time)
  • Rui Costa takes epic stage, Nibali moves into the lead

Stage 6 was set to be for attackers but very few actors expected them to be some of the most famous contenders. In a wet finale, Vincenzo Nibali showed his superiority in the front group formed with more than eighty kilometers to go. He took the lead over from Tejay van Garderen but missed out on his main goal, which was the stage victory as former world champion Rui Costa of Lampre-Merida overtook him in the last kilometer.

Saint-Bonnet-en-Champsaur

Saint-Bonnet in the Hautes-Alpes, the historical capital of the Champsaur Valley, is one of the few medieval villages in the French Alps. It is on the Route Napoléon on the boundary between the Dauphiné region and Provence near the Parc National des Écrins. Many signs of Saint-Bonnet's illustrious past can still be seen in the village, and for centuries it has worked hard to preserve its cultural heritage (Pétètes chapel and Notre-Dame du Bois Vert). Saint-Bonnet is a dynamic village with a range of shops, restaurants and services, various schools and many local clubs and associations. Its geographical location, in the heart of the Vallée du Drac at 1,000 metres above sea level, offers numerous opportunities for leisure activities and exploration. In Saint-Bonnet and the surrounding area, you'll find all the activities you could wish for: cycling, golf, tennis, skiing, hiking, horse riding, mountain biking, canoeing and kayaking, rafting, fishing, etc., with plenty of snow in winter and sun all year round!
