Alone against the rest of the bunch, Fabian Cancellara admitted his third victory in Paris-Roubaix was by far the toughest.
"I had never been in such a tough race situation before. I often thought it was over but in Paris-Roubaix, the war is never over. It was everyone against me and my team, and in the end I'm kaputt. My team worked hard and we lost riders through hard luck. I don't know how I managed to find the necessary resources. In the end it was like roulette. I gave it my all. I talked to Vanmarcke. I told him I couldn't work alone until the finish. I wanted to finish on my own but the only thing that matters is that I won Paris-Roubaix for the third time. To achieve another double is great. But I suffered more than in previous years."
