Peter Sagan: "I have to think about saving my skin first"

Third again for Peter Sagan. He leads the points classification but wants to win again... but he's still figuring out how to manage that against the likes of Kittel, Greipel and Cavendish.

“I was a bit unlucky today, but I'm happy with the result. Third, in the context of the green jersey is pretty good. But with regard to the stage win, I am a little frustrated because I thought I was on the right wheel by following Mark Cavendish. Every day I try to win the stage! But yesterday, against the clock, was a big challenge for me. It may be the reason that I missed to win today.

“I'm happy to have spent one more day without a hitch. In the end, I was close to falling. But I'm more upset about what happened at the intermediate sprint. I do not understand why Kris Boeckmans has put me into the barriers. This is not normal! He isn't in the race for the points classification. It was already well underway and there was a crosswind. I yelled for him not to make me fall.

“Every day, something can happen. I have to constantly keep your feet on the ground and think about saving my skin first. I still will be aiming to win the stage tomorrow, but my main goal is to keep the green jersey every day.”
