A rest. A deep breath. A change of scenery. The second Tuesday of the 100th Tour de France will be contested on a flat course through the heartland of cycling, Brittany. The school holidays have begun and the fans are always out in force in this part of the country even if the peloton will speed by on the road to Saint-Malo where there are but a few hills to slow them down. The antics of the GC riders that were on display in stages eight and nine – daring attacks and bold challenges on testing terrain – will seem like an eternity ago by the end of stage 10 for the cheers are likely to be loudest for the sprinters.

This is one of seven days that the likes of Mark Cavendish are targeting for them to have an impact. The temptation of an escape will lure some forward early but we've seen already that Omega Pharma-Quickstep, Lotto-Belisol, Cannondale, Argos-Shimano and Orica-GreenEdge are prepared to join forces in the pursuit of the escapees in the 2013 Tour. This is the likely scenario again for stage 10: the challenge with the forecast is to say if ‘Cav', Greipel, Sagan, Kittel or Goss will be the fastest to the line...
