Capital of the Cote d’Azur and France’s fifth largest city, Nice has the second busiest airport in France with10 million passengers per year.
Nice is able to boast a unique and an exceptional climate, giving it the advantages of a must for any major international event.
With an important political and economic role in the Government for the Mediterranean. Nice is committed to sustainable development with Eco-Valley, (an objective to develop the Cote d’Azur in order to attract new business’s, creation of employment and environmental living standards).
In 2013 Eco-Valley will be host to a modern Olympic Stadium sports arena with a seating capacity of 35,000 and will be home to the National Museum of Sports.
In addition to the 69th Paris-Nice, and on an annual basis, Nice also runs other great sporting events, including the Marathon des Alpes-Maritimes, the Nice tennis Open, the Iron Man triathlon. And also for 2012, the world Figure Skating Championships, plus the Francophone Games in 2013, and the European football championships in 2016.
With the help of the mayor, Christian Estrosi, a former top athlete himself, Nice has set itself a goal of becoming within the next few years, the European City of Sport.
