The Valley of Serre-Chevalier is a 13-kilometre, south-facing area made up of a vast larch forest, mountain villages and hamlets, all combining to create a very varied landscape and different atmospheres:
-Saint-Chaffrey-Chantemerle: at the foot of the wooded slopes of the Col du Granon, perfect examples of traditional mountain villages and their typical habitat.
-Villeneuve-La Salle-les-Alpes: a harmonious blend of modern and traditional, this is the heart of the valley.
-Monêtier-les-Bains: with its narrow lanes, chapels and churches, the old village of Monêtier has maintained its mountain character. Its hot water springs have allowed it to open a 4,500m2 spa centre.
On the banks of the river Guisane, the traditional hamlets of Casset, Lauzet and Guibertes transport you to the heart of nature in this mountain setting.
A wealth of activities awaits you in the Valley of Serre-Chevalier with the Pass’Partout chip card.
Located in the heart of the Alps and surrounded by three mountain ranges, Grenoble aims to set an example in terms of reducing its emissions of greenhouse gases. Thirty years ago, Grenoble was one of the first towns to reintroduce the tramway. The city’s quest for innovation continues as it strives to find different ways of improving the quality of life of its citizens, including introducing new models for energy self-sufficiency in the heart of the city. To make Grenoble stand out at a European level, the city has adopted an ambitious approach to construction cost management, designed to promote a greater social mix. For a consistent public transport system, the fifth tramway line will cross the future Esplanade at the entrance to the town. An essential aspect of wellbeing, sport remains one of the “trademarks” of Olympic Grenoble. The arrival of the Critérium du Dauphiné heralds the start of a new sporting season. Welcome to Grenoble, in the magnificent setting of the Alps, a modern town surrounded by mountains and green spaces.
