For several years now, the Cycling Manager series has offered a clever mix between management and sports simulation. During this time, the series has continuously increased its audience through its different versions, each introducing novelties and each becoming the new video game benchmark for hundreds of thousands of players in Europe.
At first, creating a game about cycling races could have sounded weird to novices. However, it is now obvious that Cyanide studio, the game’s developer, is an expert at recreating all the fullness of the sport’s tactics both during races and throughout an entire season, where a player puts on the sports manager’s cap to manage preparation, contracts, schedules and even transfers.
Pro Cycling Manager/Tour de France 2009 invites you to experience a big new season packed with more than 180 races including the greatest competitions such as the Tour de France or the Tour of Spain (La Vuelta). Lead one of the 65 official teams or create your own team (new feature) and tackle the toughest challenges: win a big Tour, excel throughout an entire season, increase odds for new talents or strengthen a great champion. There are many objectives that allow you to play as you want, for the glory of winning or just for fun.
Pro Cycling Manager 2009 offers you the chance to participate in the greatest international cycling events. The game has a total of 180 races and more than 720 legs that are playable in real time. Among the many main events of this new season, players will race on the Tour de France 2009 route and for the very first time, the Tour of Spain. During the season, players will fight for the most prestigious yellow, green and polka dot jerseys, generally synonymous of a successful season for an ambitious team.
The ambiance for the greatest tours is faithfully recreated thanks to the large crowd along roadsides that is particularly enthusiastic during mountain climbs. The game asks you to grab one of the 60 professional cycling teams’ destinies. The biggest teams are available and so are their greatest champions. Overall, the game offers an incredible professional cyclist database with more than 1,500 official riders.
This 2009 edition is chock full of novelties for its real time playable section. Players can give direct orders to teammates or change tactics while racing, thanks to the new, more intuitive and user-friendly interface. When playing alone against the computer, your opponents will have realistic and more aggressive behavior thanks to improved artificial intelligence. In order to faithfully recreate the ambiance, the intensity and the excitement of the great cycling tours, the game displays big crowds along roadsides and mountain passes. The game benefits from a graphical lifting with a lot of new background elements, new visual effects, and for the first time, water plans (sea, lakes, river) and races podiums. The track mode, which appeared in the previous version, now welcomes two new velodromes, new game modes and new online rankings.
As for its management part, PCM 2009’s famous carrier mode now welcomes two new options and improvements in order to provide a richer, more immersive game experience. One of the main new features is the ability for players to create their own teams from scratch (name, logo, sponsors, jerseys, teammates…).
The scouting for new talents system is enriched with a clever point system. From now on, goals that the players have chosen can be changed during the season in order to avoid certain situations or counter performance. This function allows players to remain with their own play level. The finance management section, beloved by management aficionados, is updated with new easier to read interfaces.
