At an altitude of 485 metres, the town with its 8,000 inhabitants will be able to attract you with the thousand facets of its charm: it has an unrivalled site with the “cluse de la Durance” and the “Rocher de la Baume” with its titanic relief. The richness of its medieval heritage, of which the masterpiece is the Citadel, also includes the Cathedral of Notre-Dame des Pommiers, a prodigy of Roman art, the convents, the rampart towers, the “andrônes” (passageways between 2 houses) and the “couverts” (“Couverts” refers to “places à couverts”, the squares of walled-towns which have porticos).

Since the 19th century, the period when Cannes became a winter holiday destination for the European aristocracy, it has continued to use its power of attraction on a French and European clientele which are fascinated by its glamour. This atmosphere has naturally emerged in the hotel, catering and luxury boutique sector, which offer one of the most prestigious French showcases, between the sea and the sun. The sea front, with its famous road, the Croissette, naturally represents one of the major tourist attractions, just like the Lérins Islands, which are flawless treasures placed in a blue setting. Cannes is a town of stars and sequins and is also known throughout the world for its film festival, which takes place every year in May.
