Saint-Etienne

Saint-Étienne and its suburbs have always been committed to a strong, vibrant sports policy, both in terms of its events and its management of young people and top level athletes.
The Ecole des Sports (Sports School), created in 2002, favours the idea of young people having a taste of various sporting disciplines. In addition the clubs are associated with the Ecole Municipale des Sports (local sports school) project.
Saint-Étienne is also geared up for large global events like the Football World Cup, in which it participated in 1998. In 2005 it was the setting for the final sprint against the clock in the Tour de France and is preparing for some classic sporting moments in 2007, since it will play host to the Rugby World Cup.
This wealth of high quality equipment and a rich and varied geographic environment are considerable assets when hosting prestigious events.
