On what was easily the hottest stage of the 100th Tour de France so far, the Dutch team Vacansoleil-DCM relegated the TTT champions Orica-GreenEdge in the team classification with thanks to the youngest rider in the race, Danny van Poppel, who earned a second top 10 placing (eighth) in his debut in the Tour. The Spanish veteten Juan Antonio Flecha was 14th and Sergey Lagutin rounded out the top 50. The sprint specialists opened up such a gap that 16 riders finished with a five-second advantage in the stage to Montpellier and only three teams finished in the same time: Vacansoleil, Orica and Lotto-Belisol...
In the GC for teams, however, the winners of the TTT in Nice are still on top: Orica-GreenEdge have a second rider in the yellow jersey and they keep their yellow helmets and race numbers for another day thanks to an eight-second advantage over Sky Procycling.
