A town with more than 43,000 inhabitants, Bourg-en-Bresse enjoys a thriving economic activity. The town benefits from an ideal location situated 1h50 from Paris by TGV and 45 minutes from Lyon by car. The most important pole of activity in France for heavy goods vehicles and the 2nd industrial coach building pole in Europe, Bourg-en-Bresse includes more than 4,000 companies in its catchment area. Situated in the heart of the 3rd department of France in terms of industrial employment, the Town and the Urban Area arrived in 4th position on the 2005 list of most attractive urban areas, published by the monthly magazine L’entreprise. The economic affluence doesn’t overshadow the gentle way of life. With a theatre, a contemporary musical scene and 1,200 associations, city life is interspersed with a multitude of cultural and sporting events. The diverse possibilities give rise to vocations and Bourg-en-Bresse is the birthplace of champions: the marathon runner Alain Mimoun, the cyclist Daniel Morelon, the shooting champion Audrey Soquet and the tennis man Julien Benneteau.

At the heart of the Aravis range, ideally situated between the Mont Blanc and Geneva, Le Grand-Bornand combines the assets of a major resort and the charm of a mountain village.
