SAINT-AMAND-MONTROND

The most memorable moment in Saint-Amand- Montrond’s Tour de France history was the 2013 stage that was unexpectedly affected by the wind and echelons, the drama ending with victory for Mark Cavendish. Julian Alaphilippe’s hometown has also become a regular stopping point for Paris-Nice. Tom Boonen and André Greipel both won sprints here in “the race to the sun”, while Soren Kragh Andersen won a time trial here in 2020. Last spring, a bravura performance by Tadej Pogačar in that same race began in Saint-Amand-Montrond and ended with him taking the stage victory and the leader’s jersey at Loge des Gardes.  Stage town for the 4th time
