Montmélian

The military capital of Savoie until the 17th Century, when Louis XIV had its citadel demolished, Montmélian today is an attractive town. Its restored old town centre is a splendid example of Savoyard urban architecture. The walled city at the foot of the Fort is encircled by medieval ramparts. Montmélian has a dynamic economy and is the administrative centre of the Coeur de Savoie group of local authorities (43 municipalities and 34,000 inhabitants). The town is internationally reputed as a pilot town for solar energy. It is a French solar energy champion, was awarded the European Cit'ergie label in 2007, received the European Urban and Regional Planning award in 2014 for its Triangle-Sud solar eco-neighbourhood and won the International Energy Agency's Solar Heating & Cooling Award in Beijing for its outstanding solar heating policies.

Saint-Gervais Mont Blanc

Welcome to Saint-Gervais Mont Blanc. It's worth coming here at all seasons of the year. We are delighted to welcome you in June. A quick glimpse at the surrounding landscapes will set the tone. Mont Blanc is spectacular and omnipresent, and for good reason, it is located in our region. Saint-Gervais watches over and protects it. As a result our town is one of the steepest in Europe, going from Fayet at 580 metres in height all the way to the permanent snow cover on the summit of Mont Blanc standing at 4,810 metres. So you can see that the climb all the way to the Bettex is a great one for cyclists, be they competing or just riding for fun. The Bettex and the crests which surround it also form the start of the Évasion Mont Blanc ski area. With a wave of a magic wand and a dusting of snow, you can experience the winter here in the heart of a ski area boasting 445 kilometres of runs, catering for all levels of skiers, with breathtaking views.
