Half a ton of Norwegian salmon to Team Sky

The winner of this year's Arctic Race of Norway, Gianni Moscon, received 500 kg of Norwegian salmon during his team's training camp in Mallorca this week.

Team Sky, one of the best cycling teams in the world, is sure to have Norwegian seafood on the menu in the coming months. Earlier this year, one of their top riders, Gianni Moscon, won the Arctic Race of Norway, and with his stage 3 victory in the race, Moscon could also cash in a prize of half a ton of Norwegian salmon. During a training camp in Mallorca this week, the prize was delivered and celebrated with a grand dinner service.

 – I feel I have to share some of this with my teammates. There is more than enough salmon for me and my family, reassures Moscon, who had a first taste of the prize while enjoying with his team a four-course dinner served by seafood chef Adrian Løvold from Trondheim in Norway. Moscon was accompanied by 80 guests present during the hand-over of the prize. The menu consisted of grilled salmon, Norwegian Christmas herring and sashimi of scallops and fresh salmon.

In training for another year of success

Chris Froome and the other Team Sky riders have all had a positive start of the 2017 preparations. During their training camp by the Mediterranean, the stars of professional cycling create the foundation on which next year's season will rest.

We are here for eight days and will complete the first large training session before the Christmas holidays. These are important days of training for us at Team Sky, since our goal for 2017 is to perform as well as we did this year, or even better, Moscon affirms.

In addition to Chris Froom's Tour de France victory this year, Team Sky holds 11 race victories for 2016.

It gives us great joy to serve our produce to some of the world's best cyclists. When they express their appreciation of the food, we feel especially proud, affirms managing director of Kvarøy Salmon Farming, Alf Gøran Knutsen, who delivered the prize along with Marit Sivertsen, who represented Polar Quality salmon export.
