“Obviously I was trying to win today and I’m disappointed because it’s not every day that we can go for the yellow jersey in a bunch sprint. The white jersey is a consolation but at the end of the day, all you want is to win. There were riders everywhere and no organised lead out. It was like every sprinter was there by himself. It was hard to navigate through it in a finish like that. I probably should have been up front when we starting to go up the hill with 500 metres to go. I felt like I was coming quite quick and I definitely had the legs to win today but unfortunately I couldn’t get through in the end.”
