11 Tour de France riders live in Andorra

Joaquim ‘Purito' Rodrìguez who hails from Parets del Vallès in Catalunya settled down in Andorra seven years ago and prepared his Grand Tour campaigns in and around the principality. He's been an inspiration for many cyclists to make Andorra their home. Several participants to the 103rd Tour de France live in Andorra: Simon Gerrans, Rui Costa, Rohan Dennis, Luis Leon Sanchez, Luke Durbridge, Angel Vicioso, Dan Martin, Dani Moreno, Leigh Howard and Ruben Plaza. “It's a fantastic place to live quietly with a family and train with a lot of mountains around”, Gerrans told letour.com about his move from Monaco to Andorra one year ago. He was actually supposed to move right after the Tour de France last year and became homeless for three weeks after he crashed and was forced to pull out on stage 3. He lives right on the course of today's stage, so does Howard who was at home in bed when he received a call from IAM Cycling for a last minute participation to the Tour de France as a replacement to Dries Devenyns three days before the start at Mont-Saint-Michel.
