Prologue - Issy-les-Moulineaux - 4 km       Next stage

Voigt confirms

Under a bright sunny sky but terribly cold conditions, Jens Voigt (CSC) confirmed his excellent start to the season by clinching the win on the 4 kilometre Paris-Nice prologue competed in the streets of Issy-les-Moulineaux.

Key moments
After his overall win during the Tour Méditerranéen in the first weeks of the cycling season, Germany's Jens Voigt proved he would be one to watch on this 63rd edition of Paris-Nice. The Team CSC rider completed the 4 kilometres of the day's circuit in a time of 5'15 grabbing the yellow and white overall leader's jersey as well as the green and white point's jersey.

Voigt, 33 years of age, won with a 2'' advantage on promising rider Fabian Cancellara (Fassa Bortolo), already a winner of the Tour de France prologue last year in Liège. The Swiss time-trial National champion clinches the best young rider jersey. Third on the day, Erik Dekker (Rabobank) finished 3'' adrift. The team performance of the day went to the CSC formation with 5 riders in the leading 15. (Voigt 1st, Gusev 4th, Zabriskie 8th, Arvesen 12th and Sorensen 15th).

Time tomorrow for the first stage of this Paris-Nice: a 186,5 km race between Etampes and Chabris.
