THE TOUR DE FRANCE UNIVERSE COMES TO JAPAN
A WORLD-CLASS ELITE FIELD RACING IN THE HEART OF SAITAMA CITY
9h00 : Opening of the Event Village & Animations
The heart of Saitama City will beat the rhythm of the Tour de France:
- The Tour de France riders, guests and media will set up their quarters in the main village in the middle of the animated race circuit
- Experience the Tour de France universe and history in the Saitama Super Arena, featuring the “Le Tour de France Expo”
- Enjoy French and local food and flavors at the “Saita Marché”, a public market with the right mixture between French gastronomy and Japanese tradition
- Discover the offers from the race partners at the “Cycle Festa” and get ready for your next bike trip at the partner and bike fair inside the Saitama Super Arena
11h00 - 12h00 : Free Cycle
A brilliant opportunity for Saitama citizens and cycling fans to experience cycling with their bike on the closed circuit that will be ridden by the riders of Tour de France in the afternoon.
12h10 - 12h45 : Riders’ presentation
Each one of the participating teams and riders will be officially presented to the public.
They (around 32 Tour de France, from 8 Tour de France teams of 4 riders as well as 25 national riders) will ride a lap of the circuit (2.7 km) accompanied by guests.
13h00 - 13h30 : First Points Race
A spectacular race of 8 laps of 2.7 km featuring half of the race peloton.
Half of the riders’ peloton will fight for the points distributed after each 2nd passing over the finish line! The best rider over the 8 laps wins!
13h45 - 14h15: Second Points Race
While half of their team mates have already collected points on the first race, the remaining riders of the peloton will now have to do the same.
An intense race of 8 laps of 2.7 km, according to the same regulations than the first race and inspired by the strong Japanese Keirin format.
15h00 – 16h15 : Criterium - Main Race
The main race of the event featuring the entire peloton: one final sprint – one final winner!
The most famous foreign and Japanese riders competing over 20 laps of 2.7 km. While breakaway riders may grasp several intermediate classifications, only the final sprint winner will get on the top of the podium.
More than 1h15 of exciting racing in the heart of Saitama!
16h30 : Award Ceremony
The winners of the different classifications, inspired by the Tour de France, will be awarded by the race partners for their successes and get the applause from the public.
