Belgium's Sep Vanmarcke came within 50 centimetres of winning his first great classic. But Fabian Cancellara was again too strong.
"My goal was Paris-Roubaix. I didn't train for any other race, I did everything with this race in mind. I punctured, I crashed, I hurt my knee and in the end I was still in the front. In the last 500 metros, I thought I was going to win but the course was 50 centimeters too long. Now all I can do is cry."
