Questioned by letour.com after driving the course behind Fabian Cancellara who is on the hunt for a sixth win in an inaugural time trial of the Tour de France, Trek Factory Racing assistant directeur sportif Alain Gallopin declared: “It's a course for pure specialists, not very technical with wide curves. Therefore it's a good one for Cancellara. He's going well, he's extremely motivated.”

The first yellow jersey of the 102nd Tour de France is Australian. Rohan Dennis of BMC Racing Team was the only rider to complete the 13.8km course in less than fifteen minutes. He outclassed the three favorites Tony Martin, Fabian Cancellara and Tom Dumoulin and rode the fastest individual time trial ever at the Tour de France.
It was very tiring. The heat was demanding for everyone but even more with a time trial helmet. I did all I could but Rohan has been the best. I've lost some mini seconds in a curve or two but it hasn't made that difference. It was an important race for me because I didn't get a chance to ride the classics this year. But it's no big deal. I've won a fair bit in my career. I race for fun and the Tour is long. There'll be other occasions, I'm sure of that.
