The historical partner of the Critérium du Dauphiné, the Rhône-Alpes Region is pleased to support this event which provides an opportunity to promote a large part of the area, from the Alps all the way to the Rhône: Lyon (with the finish of the prologue at L’Hôtel de Région on Sunday 8th June), Montélimar, Courchevel, Grenoble, La Mure, Poisy, Megève, etc.: so many places that are popular with cycling fans.

The Region is proud to sponsor the polka dot jersey. With three chains of mountains which cover 70% of its area, six regional nature reserves and two national parks, Rhône-Alpes boasts an incredibly diverse range of mountain landscapes. They provide the ideal setting for amateurs of mountain and outdoor sports, with their peaks, passes, piedmonts and valleys which play host to sportsmen and women from throughout the world. Rhône-Alpes is proud of its mountain identity, and so it is natural that it will reward the best climber with the polka dot jersey.

It is also involved in supporting its young riders, by allowing 120 of them to experience the race from the inside, during the stages from Wednesday to Saturday. A few moments before the pack, they will ride the final kilometres of the stage and set off to climb the Col de Manse and the Col de la Forclaz, as well as the ascent of Finhaut-Emosson. They are advised and encouraged by Mickaël Buffaz, patron of the operation and a former professional cyclist who just recently retired from the pack, and allow themselves to dream during the race of the day when one of them will adorn the polka dot jersey.
