Situated half way between Paris and the châteaux of the Loire Valley, Eure-et-Loir is a department that is clearly focused on sport.
It has more than 100, 000 people who are members of 1, 200 clubs, 47 high level sportsmen and women, as well as 32 teams and 28 clubs which compete in national championships. The foremost sponsor of the sportsmen and women of Eure-et-Loire, the General Council encourages high level performers (through clubs, training facilities and technical medical expertise). It also takes part in the development of sport (providing financial grants for members, clubs and committees) and supports the communes to maintain and create their facilities as well to train their sports leaders.
Although the General Council is involved in sport on a daily basis, it also takes part in the organisation of major events and in particular several cycling races such as the Tour de France, naturally, on several occasions, but also the Tour d'Eure-et-Loir Espoirs, L'Hexagonal -the MTB Tour de France and of course, Paris-Tours. After the success encountered last year when the race started in Chartres and where a great many members of the public came to encourage and applaud the riders, it is with pleasure and pride that Eure-et-Loir will host the start of this wonderful event in conjunction with the town of La Loupe.

As well as creating sports facilities and supporting many clubs and organisations, the urban community is also a sponsor of Paris-Tours.
The association is almost natural here, where we think sport is vital for well-being and development. It was logical for the urban community of Tours to be associated with sport as here we believe that it is vital for people’s well-being and development. Therefore, the urban community backs many sports competitors in numerous disciplines, which it helps and for whom it builds new, modern facilities. The objective is to allow the urban area's 284,885 inhabitants to freely enjoy their favourite sports, support their teams at the highest level and take part in major events, of which the classic cycling race, Paris-Tours, is the jewel. Tour(s)plus is proud to be associated with this popular sport and international event since 2004.
