As a result of equality, there is no reason why the last, hardest kilometre of the season should only be reserved for men. Several hours before the Flèche Wallone Elite category, these ladies will therefore open the ball for the fortieth edition of Women’s Flèche Wallonne, the 4th stage of the World Cup.
The race will be organised in conjunction the Royal Pesant Club Liégois and will be the second women’s cycling event of the season for A.S.O., following the Ladies Tour of Qatar, where Helen Van Dijk was victorious in February.
Once again the best women's riders will have to overcome the new feature introduced last year on the 109.5 km route to be covered, that of climbing the renowned Mur du Huy twice: first of all 30 km before the end of the race, in order to discover the finish conditions and then to actually cross the finish line.
By climbing the Mur de Huy twice, they will be just one ascent behind their male counterparts. Equality is underway…
